Time Travel Is Dangerous
Time Travel Is Dangerous follows best friends Ruth and Megan, who run a failing vintage shop called Cha Cha Cha in Muswell Hill. With eviction looming, their fortunes seem bleak until they discover a souped-up bumper car behind the shop that turns out to be a functioning time machine. Sensing an opportunity, they begin travelling into the past to collect genuine period pieces, stocking their shelves with items lifted directly from history in a last-ditch effort to keep the business afloat.
Told in a mockumentary format, the film blends comedy with gentle satire as Ruth and Megan frequently address an on-screen film crew, offering candid reflections on their increasingly reckless scheme. Stephen Fry’s dry narration adds an additional layer of humour as the duo’s ventures through time become ever more chaotic. Their attempts to save the shop raise questions about friendship, morality and the unforeseen consequences of tampering with the past.
